Building capacity will be managed by timed ticketing.  In order to have the best experience, The National Aquarium is asking all guests and members to reserve their timed entries ahead of time.

Stroller Check

As always, stroller use is not allowed inside the Aquarium.  In order to maintain proper safety and social distancing protocols, stroller check and guest locker area will be temporarily closed.  A small on-site parking area for strollers will be available for self-park, but space will be limited.

The rental of backpack carriers will also be temporarily unavailable.

Face Covering

All guests will be required to wear a face covering while iside the Aquarium.  Face covering must cover the nose and mouth, be secured with ties or ear loops and fit snugly against the face.  Acceptable examples include surgical masks and cloth face masks (either purchased or handmade).  A supply of complimentary surgical masks will be on hand for those who arrive without a proper face covering.

*Children under the age of two and guests with medical conditions that prevent them from safely wearing a mask are exempt from this policy and will be issued a wristband by staff.

Temperature Screenings

All guests will be subject to a non-contact temperature check* prior to entry.  Guests who present with a temperature of 100.4 or higher will not be able to enter the Aquarium.  Any already-purchased admission will be refunded.  *No health data will be recorded as part of this procedure.

Food & Water

As always, touch-free water bottle refill stations will be available for use throughout the campus.  Guests are encouraged to bring their own water bottles for use.  Water fountains will be temporarily disabled.

The Harbor Market Kitchen on Pier 3 will be temporarily closed.  The Harbor Market Cafe on Pier 4 will be open with grab-and-go food and beverage options available.

During Your Visit:

Social Distancing

Guests will be required to maintain a 6-foot space between gropus for social distancing at all times while inside the Aquarium.  Signage and staff will be available throughout the campus to help guide and reinforce these practices.

Building Flow & Modifications

To ensure an efficient and safe flow through the Aquarium for all guests, a linear path has been established throughout both buildings with a single entrance on Pier 3 and exit on Pier 4.  Interpretative signage will be placed throughout the experience to help guests navigate along the linear pathway.

The 4D Immersion Theater and Living Seashore touch pools will be temporarily closed.  Complimentary styluses will be available for personal use at the many digital interactives throughout the buildings.

Plexiglass barriers have been installed at high interaction locations including their Security and Information Desks to ensure safe interactions between staff and guests at all times.

An alternate accessibility pathway has been estableshed for guests.  More information will be available alongside their accessibility guide.  Wheelchairs and audio tours will still be available for use at no additional cost.

Staff & Cleaning Protocols

In addition to guest protocols, extra precautions are being taken to ensure the safety of all staff and volunteers.  Upon arrival at the Aquarium, all staff, volunteers, partners and contractors will also be required to have their temperature checked.  Face coverings will be worn at all times while in public spaces and social distancing will be maintained between guests and colleagues at all times.

High-traffic areas throughout the buildings will be cleaned frequently throughout the day to help safeguard against contamination.
